Well, the time has finally come....I am now officially old! I always thought the day Greg would leave on a mission I would be soooooo old! That day is here! Greg was called to the Guatemala to serve a mission for our church! I am a proud older sister for his decision to sacrifice 2 years of his life to serve our Lord. Not too much longer Cole will be making the same decision. WOW! Its amazing faith these young boys have to have! Before I start tearing up too much writing this....the family decided to spend a weekend before Greg left together up at the Zermatt Resort in Midway. We had such a great time just being all together laughing and sharing fun memories. That Sunday we came home and were able to have my amazingly talented cousin Lauren do our family pictures. We had a lot of fun doing this photo shoot! As you will see, we are just a bunch of goof balls! The thing I like the most is you can see the love that my family shares for one another! I am so blessed to be apart of this family! I will miss Greg, but I know he is where he is suppose to be right now.

I was having technical difficulties for a few months there, but after my mad tech skills I was finally able to fix it! It only took me....eh.....about 5 months! Glad to be back! I have a lot to catch up on.

Summer is just around the corner!!! YAY! Im so excited =D this winter has dragged on way to long. I wonder why I live in Utah each winter. One of these days I am going to up and move to a place where the weather is warm all year round.

With that being said, I need to get my butt in shape! I have gotten out of my routin a little this winter so I have to hit it hard. I have some major goals that I want to get to by the end of the summer. I am starting the p90x challenge but will also be doing some more to go along with it to make sure I hit these goals.

So, its true. I went back to blonde. One Monday I thought that it would be fun to go back to my roots, so I made a phone call and went in that night. Lets just say when I make a decision I go for it. I have to admit that I think I like the brown better, but this is fun for the summer. I wasn't expecting to go this blonde this fast, I was expecting it to take awhile to get back to this color. So you can decide what you like better.

Valentine Chex® Mix

9 cups Rice Chex® cereal

1 cup white vanilla baking chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup butter or margarine

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup red, white and pink candy-coated chocolate candies

1/4 cup red or pink jimmies sprinkles

1. In large bowl, place cereal. In small microwavable bowl, microwave baking chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth. Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated.

2. Place 1/2 of the cereal mixture in 1-gallon food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool, about 15 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, stir candies and sprinkles into remaining cereal mixture. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool, about 15 minutes.

4. In serving bowl, mix both cereal mixtures. Store in airtight container.

Red Velvet Pancakes

1/2 of an 18.25 oz box Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Red Velvet cake mix (about 2 cups lightly filled)

2 large eggs, beaten (see Cook's Note)

2 Tbsp oil 1/4 cup + 1 tsp water 3 Tbsp butter

Whipped cream (optional)

Powdered sugar (optional)

Combine the cake mix, eggs, oil and water in a mixing bowl until just thoroughly blended (don't overmix). If batter seems too thick, add another tablespoon of water. Cook the pancakes in a non-stick pan over medium heat. You want to cook these a little slower than regular pancakes because you don't want them to brown too much. Keep them warm in a low oven.

When ready to serve decorate with whipped cream or powdered sugar, if desired.

Makes about 8 pancakes (about 5 inches across)

Cook's Note: To make these (or any pancakes) lighter, separate the yolks and whites. Combine the beaten yolks with the other batter ingredients; beat the whites to soft peaks and gently fold them into the batter.

My Redecorating Project

Ok, so I have lived in my house for 2 years now and for those of you who know me, know I love to decorate. So I have decided its time for an upgrade. Not only will I be redecorating my room and bathroom, I am also finally going to be finishing my basement!!!! I have few ideas in mind.

I am thinking I want to do the basement an old vintage Hollywood. With blues, whites and oranges.

My room is the other half of the project which I am thinking of doing yellow, whites and blacks.

So, its the beginning of a new year, you can tell by the lack of treadmils at the gym. I hate new years resolutions because I feel like it is an excuse people use to say they are making all these goals that they are never going to accomplish. I also really don't understand why they have to wait for a new year. There is always a time to make goals and become better. Negative? Maybe, but until then I just wait for first couple week of January to be over and the resolutions wear off so the gym goes back to normal. Negative or not, I did however, decide on a couple resolutions myself. These have nothing to do with the regular lose a few pounds, wash my car weekly, you know the regular stuff, but I have decided to take things to the next level. Take this however you would like, but in all honesty there are a lot of things I would like to take to the next level like the type of guys I date, my own business, my opportunities to travel, those are just to name the few. So as much I hate all those new years resolutions and the lack of follow through, I am willing to work hard and move forward with what I feel my future has in store for me. Here we go! This is the begining of my next level!

U OF U BYU RIVALRY GAME!

Every year I look forward to the big game Utah vs BYU. I being the black sheep in my family LOVE the University of Utah! I am proud to wear my red and join in the fun of bantering back and forth. Especially when you come from a household of hardcore BYU fans. This year of course was no different, Cole and I had our fun rubbing in the other teams colors whenever we could and make smart comments on each others facebooks. I like to think of myself as one of those girls who loves the sport enough to feel I can make smart comments and throw out stats that I actually can carry on an intelligent conversation about football( if Im wrong please don't tell me and let me keep believing that.) Basically, I feel I can throw around a little trash talk. :)

Well unfortunatly, this year we all know it just wasn't the U's year. :( I was depressed the rest of the night. I couldn't tell if I was more depressed because the U lost or that I had lost two bets, one being to my dad where I promised him I would take him to sushi. Win or lose, I am proud of my Utes for hanging in there the whole game! Don't worry, home game next year, and Y fans we got this!

This year was my first year I was asked to help with Thanksgiving. I decided to make two dishes. First dist was a really yummy jalepeno cream corn. For those of you who know me well, know that I do not like corn at all! My moms comments were "this must be good if Whitney is willing to eat it." I will just tell you, I can honestly say that I loved it! The second dish I decided to make was a trifle for dessert. You should also know that I do not like pie, and because of this I decided I would make a dessert that everyone would love and that was different from your average Thanksgiving pie. I would say from the comments i got that they were a hit! Who knows, maybe, just maybe I have some hidden talents.

This is one of my favorite dances!

Do you ever look back on something you did in your life and think "Why did I stop doing that?" I feel like a lot of things in life are worth trying once or twice, after that you figure out if this thing is something you love enough to sacrafice your heart to. Is that one thing something that you regret giving up? I do! Mine is dancing. I loved to dance...love to dance, I started when i was 3 years old and when I got older became better and better. My dad, was the basketball coach for Orem High at the time and when I would go with him to the games I would wait impaitently with anticipation for the drill team to come out and preform. I would watch them and just dream about the day I would get to be the one walking onto the floor to preform. Somewhere along the way I lost that dream and never became one of those dancers.

The reason I was thinking about this is because last night I got the chance to go to So You Think You Can Dance. It was so much fun! It made me just realize how much I really loved to dance and how much I really wish I would of kept dancing. I don't know if I would have gone anywhere with it, but I do know that I still love it. I always thought I was meant to be a dancer. I don't regret putting my time into other things like volleyball, but I should've never have gaven up the one thing that I knew I was really good at. With this being said, dance is a beautiful art and it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears but how amazing the outcome is and the chance to be able to tell a story through music and movement. Last night was just a chance to remember how truely great dance is and how talented those are who preform it.

Halloween started early this year. Everyone decided to throw all the parties the week before. So this is just the beginning of many more parties.

First Party...HALLOWFUNKAWEEN...

I was a Circus Ring Leader. I had so much fun getting my makeup done! I had about 10 colors on my eyes alone; blue, a dark and light green, purple, plum, white and pink. They also put these amazing fake lashes on my eyes and made my eye liner go down into a point under my eye. It looked really cool! A little drag queen at the end of the night, I practically scared myself when I looked in the mirror the next morning (after not taking off my makeup the night before).

I love this time of year! Everyone starts to get into the holiday spirit and the weather outside is crisp. Its the perfect time of year before you get sick of the cold and are ready for the sun to shine again. Its full of football games, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and of course New Years. This October I have gone to 2 haunted houses (which are way better with a boyfriend) a masquarade ball and I still get to look forward to the pumpkin patch with pumpkin carving afterwords, Frightmares, possibly a little Park city trip and of course the dozen Halloween parties for the next couple of weekends! After this its a countdown to the best of holiday of the year CHRISTMAS! I love this time of year!!!

VIP IN VEGAS

Lets just say it pays to be friends with Corinne! Last weekend one of Corinne's friends told her to grab a couple of us and come down to Vegas. It ended up being Candice, Kristen and I, little did we know that it was going to be the best weekend in Vegas ever! Nate (Corinne's friend) totally went all out...He showed us how it was to roll VIP style in Vegas! Thats right I said VIP...He set us up in a suite at the Palms Hotel. Everything paid for! What guy does that! This room was huge with big soft beds and a huge bathroom. We got there pretty late on Friday night so we didn't feel like going out. Instead we thought that jumping on the beds would be a lot more fun! I don't think I have laughed that hard in the longest time. It was seriously so funny...the pics that came from it were even better. On Saturday when we woke up it was overcast, so we decided to go shopping :) of course! While were there we ended up getting buy 1 pair get the other 90% off at the Steve Madien store. Who can pass that up? I bought the cutest boots EVER! Can't wait for Fall to start wearing them. Also, while were there we decided that night we were going to go completely Vegas style, because lets be honest, how often do we do that. So we all bought cute little cocktail dresses and jewelry all under 30 dollars (who says I don't know how to bargain shop ;)) Candice spent a little more but hers was worth it. That night Nate totally went all out. He took us to the N9ne Steakhouse in the Palms, which is a pretty high class restuarant. It blows anything in Utah out of the water. He told us all to order what we wanted and it didn't matter. We got everything under the sun, including him ordering us 3 desserts that were to DIE for! The meal alone had to be at least $1000 dollars and he paid for all of it! Ummm yeah, such a nice guy! He then took us up VIP style to the club Moon. He got us a VIP table to sit at on the balcony. The rest of the night we danced our little tooshies off and....well that will stay in Vegas ;). Needless to say, it is worth it to try Vegas once like a rockstar! What a way to end the summer! XOXO

So I there has been so much going on this summer and thought it was time to update my blog! YAY!!! There is so much I have done and experienced. I feel like I have been on a whirlwind of craziness....exhausting but compeletly and totally fun. This summer has included trips to St. George a few times, Vegas, San Diego, Lake Powell and maybe a few more to come. This list only includes the ones I have gone on....believe me I have been invited to many more. I have to have some balance of play and work right? ;) I wish I could travel all the time but a girls got to make money. This summer has also included, demolition derbies, rodeos (yee haw!), lots of softball games and many many crazy nights just with friends doing what we do best...just hangin out! I honestly can say I work hard and play hard. Well with the summer coming to a close, all I can think about is how lucky I am to have such great friends and be able to have all these great experieces.

Im excited to start this up again! I hope you will be able to enjoy some of my experiences with me!
